Don’t you just miss being a little kid, running and playing around without a care in the world? Oh to be a child without all the responsibilities that come with being an adult haha.

A few weeks ago I traveled down to Florida and got to shoot this little one and his family in the Floridian beaches. It was wonderful! I wanted to give a little background story from this shoot as I’m sure parents can relate. For this session with Liam — Liam actually was having a hard day — he was excited to be at the beach and just wanted to play… but the water was rough and he couldn’t safely play the way he wanted to. This was understandably frustrating to him, got him a little upset (though you wouldn’t know it by the photos).

Most parents would be stressed in this situation. They might think “How do I make my toddler happy? How do I calm him down?”. But his parents followed my suggestion to just let him play up near the sand dunes. They trusted me when I said, “We don’t have to keep him still — Why don’t you chase him?”. Liam was happiest running. So we got great shots of his parents chasing and playing with him. Eventually he tired himself out and he wanted to be held & snuggle. And that’s when we got the precious family photos of everyone being still.
