This was my first annual Client Appreciation Event! You’ll notice that this post is a little different than usual – with mostly black & white photos and dark backgrounds. For a while now, I’ve wanted to spend some time focusing on black & white, emotionally rich moments, and connections between loved ones in my work.

So, for this first Client Appreciation Event, we focused primarily on motherhood – women with their mothers, or with their babies, or even with both! I loved being able to capture 3 generations in some of these pictures – very special!!

While I will always love the light gray & white backgrounds that I typically use in the studio, I think the emotional connections in these photos are amplified by the nostalgic nature of black & white photography – what do you think?

And, with black accents becoming more popular in interior design, this style of photograph will tie in beautifully with both traditional and trendy home décor.

This event was so much fun that I hope to make it a yearly tradition! I’ve already got several other ideas for new things I’d like to experiment at next year’s event!
