If you’ve come to my studio for a session, you’ve probably tried on several pieces from my studio wardrobe! I keep a studio wardrobe for mammas, as well as for babies and young children. One of the things that makes a session look great is clothing that is beautiful and coordinates well with the environment. I wanted to create a process that is as pain free as possible, so I’ve collected some gorgeous pieces for the use of my beautiful clients. This takes the guess work out of what to wear and will also save a little bit of money (perhaps extra to invest into a framed portrait!). Not to mention – if you are an expectant mom or a mom of a newborn baby – the size clothing you wear may be changing quickly and it could be hard to predict what items in your own closet will fit on the day of your session — my studio wardrobe has you covered! But don’t be mislead – even if you aren’t expecting a baby or a new mom, the studio wardrobe has dresses in lots of sizes! So there is something for everyone!
Last fall I blogged photos and descriptions of all the pieces from the studio wardrobe – you can see that here . However, I’ve added several new pieces and wanted to share those too! (Also if you follow me on instagram, then you may have seen my insta-stories asking for votes on what dresses and jumpsuits to add to the wardrobe next — those aren’t included in this post as they are still on their way!).
Have fun looking!
Let me know – Which is your favorite piece?
If you are looking for a session you’ve already booked with me – read through the descriptions to see what sizes each dress will fit and let me know if you have any questions or want to stop by the studio to try anything on!
I LOVE this dress! I love it so much that I got it in TWO SIZES! A size 6 & a size 12. This dress can also be clipped in the back to fit smaller mammas as well. It will work great for pregnant and non-pregnant mammas. Its soft colors would look great with other family members wearing white, yellow, gray, or soft blue.
Chambray dresses! Want a casual look? But still fun and comfortable – this dress is perfect! The wrap style of this dress will allow it to work for several different sizes, thought the actual size of the dress is a 6. Put your other family members in white, cream, light pink, gray, or other shades of blue! Since this dress is a solid, I recommend at least one person in your family wear a soft patterned item (ideally that incorporates blue).
This dress makes all my ballerina dreams translate to adulthood! This is perfect for petite mammas – size 0-4.
Another dress for petite mammas – size 0-4. I love the classic floral on this Free People dress – put your little ones in white, pink, green, gray, tan, or even a light blue!
This gorgeous dress from Anthro is a stunner and fits a variety of sizes! Size 8, but can be pinned for smaller sizes and its elastic empire waist leaves room for bigger sizes as well. Great for both maternity and non-maternity sessions.
Another Free People dress! This is a one-size fits most and will work for both maternity and non-materntiy. The dress is slightly sheer and would look beautiful for a silhouette maternity shot in front of my studio window. If you aren’t a fan of the sheer quality – feel free to wear one of my studio slips (or bring your own if you have a favorite). I recommend a strapless bra or a sticky bra for this dress.
This Pink Blush Maternity dress looks GORGEOUS on pregnant and non-pregnant mammas! Its classic, neutral and will make you look like a greek goddess at my favorite outdoor location! Truly a stunner. Its a M/L, but also looks beautiful on size small mammas — it just hits in all the right places!
This two pieces BHLDN set is gorgeous and can be mixed with the other two pieces and tops shown in my original studio wardrobe blog post. Sized for size small mammas, but can be clipped in the back to fit size M mammas too.
Historically most of the dresses in my studio wardrobe have been loose & flow-y. But, I’ve had a few requests for some tighter form fitting & body-con options. And I’ve loved the below additions that fit this category!
This modern & minimal, yet classic Free People body con dress with a subtle side slit is absolutely stunning. These clean lines still make for a soft look when combined with the light cream color. Size Medium, but will work for both Large & Small sizes as well due to the stretchy quality. Will work for both Maternity and non-maternity sessions.
This soft & cozy gray tight fitting dress is so comfy! Size Large, and works great for maternity sessions!
Are you ready to show off your bump! This top becomes the perfect cute casual crop-top for pregnant mammas who want to bare their bump! Pair this with your old jeans that no longer button – if that sounds weird, trust me! And if you still don’t trust me, check this session out and you’ll see one of this mamma’s clothing changes includes this top and un-bottoned jeans – and its adorable! It really shows how much your baby bump has grown!
Any body else been loving the camel color trend? This color looks good all year round! This dress is a size L and great really letting your baby bump shine! Feel free to bring your own accessories and borrow some of mine to add some extra flare! A hat, cute booties, a blanket scarf – keep it simple or spice it up, there are lots of possibilities!
For smaller expectant mammas – another great bodycon camel colored dress that shows off a little leg 😉
I love this ASOS dress. Typically I avoid expectant mammas wearing black or dark colors as it can make it difficult to see the shape of your bump on camera — BUT when its a tight fitting dress like this, your bump will still show! This dress was used in a recent maternity session that had a modern and edgy twist – you can see how we styled it here. This dress is a size 6, but has a lot of stretch in it – so plenty of room for your bump!
See below for a close-up and for a potential hat accessory!
A similar dress to the long black dress shown just before this one. Just a bit shorter and a super fun bell sleeve feature! This dress is also used in the session linked above. Best for shorter expectant mammas due to length.

Studies show that displaying family photos of parents, of children (all phases – newborn through adolescent), and of the family all together can help to boost a child’s self esteem & confidence. This is what excites me most about my work. As a past Art teacher, I love children and want to help you preserve your memories, as well as help your children remember how much they are loved by their family.
I hope to hear from you soon!
