The 2018 wedding season has officially begun for us! As the busy season kicks off, I can’t help but look back on last year and smile. We had the best year yet! After each wedding last year I pulled aside behind the scenes photos of Mark and I with the intention of sharing them here… So here it is, a post a year in the making – 2017 Wedding Photography Behind the Scenes!
I didn’t hold back – so prepare yourselves! There are sweaty armpits, tree climbing, photo bombing, weird expressions, rain soaked bodies, crazy dancing & even Mark wearing a veil… We have fun at weddings and these memories are precious to us!
Thank you to all of our couples for inviting us into such a special day! YOU all make our jobs such a blessing!
And thank you to all the Nashville wedding venues & vendors who we worked with this year – We are lucky to work along side so much talent and so much hard work!
And to all our 2018 & 2019 wedding couples — we are so excited for your wedding days!
Mark fluffing dresses is a steady theme throughout a wedding day – and therefore this post! He is an expert wedding dress train fluffer!
Mark has your back in every way on a wedding day! On the hottest day of 2017 he walked with a hand-held fan pointing at this sweet bride & groom!
Another thing Mark is great at – veil tossing! Its all in the wrist 😉
He is cute & fun & silly. I like photographing weddings with this husband of mine <3
Testing the light and getting ready for a bouquet toss at Mint Springs Farm!
Anything for the shot! I’ll even climb a tree! This Magnolia at Homestead Manor makes for an easy climb… 😉
Got on stage with the band to get the perfect shot at this Gatlinburg wedding! Soon after one of these guys came over and got me to dance like a backup singer. ha!
Also this clear tent at Morning Glory Farms was stunning!
If Taylor Swift or the Spice Girls play at your wedding, I am most definitely dancing.
Testing the light and smelling the cake!
More light testing for a rainy sparkler exit! I never turn down a chance to dance down a sparkler tunnel!
Sometimes the wedding photographers jump in your photo booth!
A special moment for us! We got to photograph a wedding at Front Porch Farms (where we got married!) — we are standing in the same spot were we said our vows 2 summers before!!
I’m full of jokes to make you laugh on your wedding day – ha! (Just kidding, I have no idea what I said & I can really only remember one joke. Mark has all the jokes.)
Mark loves to jump in your couple’s portraits. He just can’t contain his enthusiasm for sunset portraits.
Back at his veil tossing tricks.
This is when our teacher skills come in handy on a wedding day – directing large groups!
A rarity caught on film – a wild Mark scurrying across the ground directly in front of a beautiful bride!
Whoops! Wrong groom! Mark standing in while I test the light for this couple’s “first touch”!
The best dress fluffer in these here parts.
Rainy wedding days don’t make us nervous. We’ve got lots of clear umbrellas to keep you & your wedding party dry! I’m just giddy with excitement about how cute these family portraits are turning out! I’m also really excited about the pink flowers blooming at Belle Meade Plantation!
Mark may be the expert veil tosser – but I’m pretty darn good at getting those suckers in and out of your hair when needed!
“Hey Sarah look! – This town ain’t big enough for the two of us.”
His attention to detail is spot on!
When the photographers & videographers are invited to take a picture with you – the excitement is so evident!
So… not a wedding, BUT when you get to take engagement photos in NYC you include in the behind the scenes post anyway 😉
Brooklyn Bridge at Sunrise!!
Real life … Mark never ceases to take the most flattering real life portraits of me. JK. He loves getting my weird expressions and messy hair! ha! See evidence below.
Thanks sweetie ;-P
When my hair gets messy on hot wedding days, Mark also gets sweaty. Pay back is sweet guys.
Also do you think this groom will be shocked to hold Mark’s hand!?
When the veil tosser takes over the veil shots – Mark does it all!
He will even carry your train for you!
Or fan your groom with our diffuser to keep him from sweating! We are resourceful on hot summer days – anything to keep you comfy!
Despite all his helpfulness – watch out! Mark will steal your veil and run off with it!!
Look at that! Proof that I fluffed at least one train last year!
I’ll fix your veil for you any time… and I’ll also model my grace for Mark any time he needs to test his camera settings. Just call me a ballerina.
Mark: The Umbrella Model. Work it baby.
Like I said, rain doesn’t scare us. We come with raincoats, rain boots, & rain sleeves for our cameras. I think the rain added a gorgeous eclectic feel to this ceremony! I loved how the photos turned out! It was colorful and joyful!
Can you find me!?
Getting this gorgeous bride in place for her first touch. Her groom did not want to let go of her hand!
Prepping Grooms for their first looks!
Mark is my favorite model.
Testing the lights, cameras and sparklers to prepare for a magical nighttime bride & groom portrait!
Back to his photobombing ways….
Telling silly stories… anything to get you to laugh!
More of Mark’s signature move – the thumbs up photobomb!
Getting those detail shots! How I start off the beginning of almost every wedding day – it gets me in my groove!
Bridal portraits – my second favorite time of the day, right after Newly wed portrait time!
More light testing… he is such a cool cat.
We get in there with you on the dance floor!
And sometimes I sneak in and photobomb Mark’s shot 😉
I love all types of exits! I won’t turn down a chance to run through for a test shot!
You can’t keep me off the dance floor!
On your wedding day – we’ve got your back! Whether its carrying your dress, tossing your veil for that perfect shot, fanning you on a hot day, providing umbrellas that photograph well, or just simply making sure you have fun during your photos – we are there to make your special day even better! And we have a whole lot of fun doing it!
Thank you for every couple who has let us be a part of your day! We’ve loved every minute of it!

Studies show that displaying family photos of parents, of children (all phases – newborn through adolescent), and of the family all together can help to boost a child’s self esteem & confidence. This is what excites me most about my work. As a past Art teacher, I love children and want to help you preserve your memories, as well as help your children remember how much they are loved by their family.
I hope to hear from you soon!
