The rainy Downton Abbey feels are real for this wedding! The beautiful neutral and elegant colors picked went along perfectly with the venue choice. Seriously the flower crowns and Christina & Colin’s wedding day thoughts are so beautiful!
– What drew you to your venue choices?
We wanted a space with character that did not need much dressing up. (We live in a 100 year old row home in Baltimore and appreciate historical charm!) We also liked that BMP had multiple locations for guests to mingle.
– What was your favorite moment of your wedding day?
Hosting an out of town wedding in addition to the other parties and activities we planned in the days before the wedding, ended up making me (Christina) a nervous wreck from our arrival into town Wednesday through getting ready Sunday. I was worried about coordinating everything, where people were, who was happy, who was sick, who was getting along, etc. I know most people say walking down the aisle is so nerve wracking for them, but I was so at peace and happy as soon as I hit the stables to walk down the aisle. It was like a huge weight was lifted. I saw all our smiling and loving family and friends and handsome Colin (tearing up of course) at the other end. It was just a very surreal and happy moment and the start of one fabulous party evening! Colin’s favorite part was being able to sneak away as husband and wife soon after our ceremony. We took a few minutes to soak in the experience, reflect on actually pulling it all off, and to eat the delicious food we picked out. (He also mentioned to tell other grooms to watch their wives being photographed after the ceremony – like he did for a few shots in the garden – because “you get to see your wife look so pretty”.)
– Are there any particular items that were part of your wedding day that have an interesting story behind them or hold important meaning to you personally?
We chose the vintage suitcase as our guest book and hand selected old postcards for guests to sign. Colin and I have been to Hawaii, Italy, Germany, Amsterdam, and all over the eastern US together in the past 2.5 years of dating. We wanted to reflect that in our guest book. We also had fun searching both the suitcase and postcards out at local antique shops. Plus we had a table of family photos. We wanted to incorporate them into the day and let them know how much they have shaped our lives and future. We are so thankful for them. Our parents especially who have both been married for over 40 years now. My grandmother (dad’s mom) just passed in February. She was able to meet Colin – the only boy I ever bought to Memphis to meet her – last fall. She would always ask when he was going to be a part of our family when I would call her on the phone. I am so elated I was able to call her the night we got engaged and get her blessings. She was just delighted. It was her sapphire cocktail ring that I wore on my
right hand that day.
