Okay, yes — I’m a little behind on blogging this one, but trust me, it’s worth the wait. Baby Cedar’s newborn session happened back in September 2023, and it still lives rent-free in my head. Sweet, peaceful, and full of that brand-new baby magic that never gets old.
For this session, I met Cedar and his family at their home in Kentucky — and truly, there’s something so special about documenting these early days in the place where you’re actually living them. In-home newborn sessions have a quiet kind of magic. They’re slow, cozy, and full of the little details that make your space feel like home — the nursery you spent hours setting up, the couch where you’ve snuggled through midnight feedings, the pup who’s been keeping a watchful eye on your newest family member.
Cedar was just a few days old when I arrived — sleepy, snuggly, and already so loved. Their sweet dog gently checked in on him throughout the session, occasionally sneaking into photos like a proud big sibling. I mean… baby + pup? Say no more. I’m in love.
After we soaked up all the sweet indoor moments, we stepped outside into their beautiful garden for something a little extra fun. We nestled Cedar into a soft little basket surrounded by the most vibrant blooms — pinks, oranges, deep greens — and the whole scene looked like a baby-in-a-flower-bed fairytale.
This is one of the things I love most about in-home sessions: they tell your family’s story in the environment that’s already part of it. Whether we’re cuddled up on the couch or stepping outside into your backyard oasis, these sessions feel like a warm slice of real life.
And just like my studio sessions, there’s no pressure to “perform.” We’re not rushing or forcing anything — we’re simply creating space for you to love on your baby while I document it all.
Whether it’s in your home or my natural light studio in Nashville, my approach stays the same: relaxed, heart-led, and focused on connection.
Let Cedar’s in-home session be a sweet reminder: this season is so worth remembering. Whether your baby is 4 days or 4 weeks old, whether we’re shooting in your home or my studio — these early days deserve to be captured with love and intention.
So if you’re dreaming of newborn photos that feel personal, natural, and full of heart — I’d love to help you tell your story.
As a Nashville and Franklin, TN newborn photographer, I love giving families the option to choose what feels most like them — whether that’s a cozy in-home session or a relaxed, natural-light studio experience. There’s no one right way to do it — only what feels most true to your story.
