Today I wanted to share with you these sweet outdoor fall family photos and even sweeter review of the Palmer family. Such a pleasure getting to photograph this family!
“I look forward to our family photos all year. I bother Sarah with endless questions about what to wear, how to style everyone in my family so that we look normal but not *too* normal, as well as a barrage of anxious texts about how I don’t like me in pictures and she calmly and graciously responds and helps out and acts like I’m her only client. What a gem.
Also, and this is the most important thing to me. As a woman who has struggled my entire life with body shaming and hating what I see in photos, our session this year with Sarah was the most affirming experience I’ve had. When I got the photos back, I assumed I’d find maybe one shot that I could tolerate of myself, but what I found, instead, was an entire set of photos of this person who just looked…happy. Like a happy mom, enjoying her kids. I was able to see myself maybe as everyone else sees me, because that’s what her work conveys.
Sarah SEES people. She truly does. Her biggest talent isn’t merely photography, although she’s a total boss at that; it’s drawing the best out of people. And making us all see the beauty in ourselves, maybe for the first time, that she saw in us all along. Ten out of ten; would recommend.”

The reason why I share this is because one of my goals as a photographer is to make sure my clients feel good, confident and comfortable in their sessions. I know there’s many people especially women who struggle with self-love/body acceptance and who experience anxiety around getting their photo taken. If this is you, please know that I am here to listen to your feelings. I’m here to help to create a safe space for you to feel supported in during the preparation process & during the photo session. As a reminder – photo sessions with me are about capturing connection, confidence, joy, happiness, tenderness… not about documenting perfection. Chasing whatever your version of “perfect” is – is a never ending game with no destination. Remember to be kind to yourself. Allowing yourself to get photos taken just the way you are is a beautiful gift to yourself!
