Back in July, I had the pleasure of photographing baby Penelope’s 9-month milestone session.

The session began in the studio, and I loved the light denim, light blue, & white color palette – so simple & timeless!
Denim has been all the rage this year fashion wise & I don’t see the denim on denim trend going anywhere soon … IF you are wanting to play with a similar fresh take of denim + white – take a note from this mama’s book! Instead of having everyone be in denim bottoms & a white top, put some people in light blue cotton or textured knits! This will blend in so well and will keep you away from the dated “everyone wore perfectly matching jeans & white tees” look that was so common in 90s JCpenny’s glamour shots. Ha!! This refreshing twist – feels natural & like real life, which I think Penelope’s family will appreciate when looking back on their photos <3

After our time in the studio, we stepped into the summer garden for outdoor photos. The lush greenery and vibrant flowers provided a stunning backdrop that felt quintessentially July. Penelope’s bright smile and curious nature were on full display!

Sharing moments like these reminds me how fleeting this season of life can be. I have yet to share Penelope’s newborn session OR her mama’s maternity session – so I need to post those soon so y’all can see how she has grown!!
