This lovely family session is actually from last fall, but I loved it so much, I couldn’t NOT share it with you! And now that fall is just around the corner, it’s the perfect time!
Sometimes families get stumped on what to wear for their sessions…especially when there are lots of people involved. As your Nashville family photographer, I’m always here to help you with styling! I like to start with mom’s outfit & build everyone else around her. She will usually have the strongest opinions about how she wants to look. In the fall, I love to use creams, tans, browns, greys, mustard yellows, burnt oranges — colors that feel rich and warm. To keep things interesting, layer different textures and use a pattern to anchor the group, pulling all the colors together!
The Scarlett family is a great example of this! The colors in dad’s patterned shirt are echoed in the kids’ outfits — various shades of gray & blue. Mom’s outfit is neutral, yet the textures are interesting & exciting. Her youngest’s corduroy overalls add yet another texture as well as a bright pop of color to brighten the whole group.
This family was part of my membership program last year, and we got some fun milestone photos of baby Brady at 6 months and 1 year. You might remember his fun smash cake!! This year, they’ve joined the membership program again and I’m excited to show you the fun, summery sessions we’ve had! But in the meantime, let’s enjoy this sweet family session from last fall. 😉
Thank you for taking time to read this blog post!!

Studies show that displaying family photos of parents, of children (all phases – newborn through adolescent), and of the family all together can help to boost a child’s self esteem & confidence. This is what excites me most about my work. As a former art teacher, I love children and want to help you preserve your memories, as well as help your children remember how much they are loved by their family.
