2018 was an amazing year for weddings over here at Sarah Sidwell Photography. I have so much fun when I am invited to be a part of beautiful days like these, I wanted to share a little glimpse of what life is like behind the camera. We sure do work hard, but the hard work is worth the joy of capturing priceless moments for a couple promising to love each other forever! I cannot wait to see all the beautiful weddings 2019 will bring us!
Let the exciting behind the scenes wedding day moments begin! (read: weird faces, sweaty arm pits, and lots of silly moments!)
Sarah on veil duty admiring the glowing Emma!
Getting those bridesmaid & wedding party shots!
Setting up for an epic wedding photo at Graystone Quarry!
Sarah teaching couples how to “dip” in the best way for photographs.
Notice the precise fore-arm illustration – ha!
Mark on dress hanging duty!
Prepping for bridal portraits at the Governor’s Club on this rainy wedding day. Covered porches for the win! We also come prepared with lots of clear umbrellas should our couples want to venture out in the rain!
Light testing before first dances!
Look at that grin! I love a good dance circle!
Classic ceremony stance at Scarritt Bennett!
Mark working up a sweat at the grove 😉 (sorry sweetie, I couldn’t resist ;-))
Mark telling the groomsmen jokes… or telling the groomsmen they need to stand closer together – ha!
This is Phil of Collings Films – he filmed this wedding video on a hover board, it gave us Back to the Future vibes… and we are still in awe of this multi-tasking skill.
Getting ready shots near a window – will always be my fav.
Let’s play a game for the next few photos – its called “Where is the Photographer” – see if you can find me!
On hair & veil duty! I’ve got your back ladies!
Just walking and chatting with some sweet brides 🙂
Mark telling the groom what to expect during his first look with his bride – they both look excited!
Mark on veil duty!
(I didn’t do great this year catching all of Mark’s helpful moments – you’ll have to check 2017’s behind the scenes post to really see all his shining moments ;-)).
If you bring a dog to your wedding… Mark will be its best friend.
If you bring a camel to your wedding… it will want to eat your bouquet!
Sometimes spouses get to be on veil duty too!
Making all your details look pretty! How I like to start each wedding day – it helps me get in the zone!
Golden hour glow-y vibes!
And just to even the score of my photo of Mark’s sweaty back… here is a very flattering picture of what my forehead will look like in about 20 years because I make this face pretty often. What can I say – I’m expressive.
Sarah checking out Mark’s butt.
JK! This is obviously two separate photos… I do crack myself up though!
He is easy on the eyes though.
Sarah trying to teach this couple “knife safety” before they cut their cake.
Getting ready for some night time portraits with a fireworks in the back ground!
We take testing the lighting for your first dance seriously.
Looking cool on the awesome seating at Antrim Celebrations in Columbia!
Mark doing his thing – I’m lucky to work with this guy, even luckier to call him husband.
Texting the light for the sparkler exit at Old Natchez Country Club in Franklin, Tn!
Let’s play it again – find the photographer!
Mark is an expert “veil toss-er”. He has really perfected his craft.
I wish we grabbed a shot with us and the couple more often!
Mark is always on the look out for a good photo-bomb.
And one more time – Can you find the photographer? (Hint – Looking for Mark this time. ;-))
And sometimes we drag videographers into our light testing shenanigans …
Mark & I both partying it up at Courtney & Joe’s wedding at Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage. 😉 Dancing with a water and frolicking through a soon to be lit sparkler exit tunnel!
And finally the highlight of our behind the scenes post – that time Mark & I got to take a photo with “Cowboy” (the most interesting wedding guest & only Camel we’ve ever met) and he decided to use the restroom & steal a kiss all at the same time, making our photo experience very memorable.. He was very comfortable with himself 😉
And that’s a wrap! Thank you all for a wonderful 2018! Lots of fun memories to look back!
